DF'd and struggling....LONG POST........my story.
by confuzzled777 inhow do i make a long story short?
i am fully aware that if anyone in my area were to read this that they will know who i am.
i was disfellowshipped on january 28th 2010 after an "interview" about an evening of bowling with friends and family back in november 2009. i was among 4 who were disfellowshipped and 6 who were publicly reproved.

So sorry to hear of this awful experience you and your family have been put through. I think that they targeted you because it was at your home, I am also surprised they didn't start asking about sexual activity at the hot tub! These men love the big scandals and you can be sure that it would be all the talk in the elder circuit for sometime to come. I know, my husband was an elder for 25 years and he often was saddened by the love of scandal among some of the elders. It seemed to spice up their boring lives and make them feel sooo important crushing other peoples lives.
Its odd that they rushed into a judicial hearing, their judgement was obviously made harsher by the sub co, he was there probably to do damage control.
I hope you have time to sit down and figure out for yourself which direction you are going to go in from now on. There is a great life outside of the org, it just takes time to combat the years of indoctrination. I am the happiest I have ever been now that I left after 47 years born in, I love my life now and want to help anyone I can to see that there is "light" at the end of the tunnel, coming out of the darkness of the Jw mindset.
Hugs to you

I think the two years not marrying after attending mts school put a few off, I was thrown over in my day by a brother who wanted to be a special pioneer, he just forgot to tell me that it would mean dumping me. Actually it was for the best, I may have been in bethel with him now!!

how many in your cong had nervous breakdowns?
by highdose inof the congregation i spent my life in i would say a good 75% had nervous breakdowns at some point.
and often there was never really a obivous reason for it.
well not that we jw's could understand at the time.. even the queen bee's/ elderettes were not immune to this.. what about you?.

Too many to count, in the four congregations I have been in the numbers on meds was very high. At least 5 breakdowns with hospital stays. One sister had her meltdown while in bethel, running screaming in the corridors hitting her husband. They were asked to leave after 20 years there, she got no help. Last time I saw her she was wearing smeared lipstick across her face and started yelling at me in the loos at the assembly because I asked how she was, her husband acted oblivious of everything and kept his position doing his elder stuff. Many sad cases.

The new house...
by Aussie Oz inwell, time for an update.... new house is in the country, just over an hour out of the city.
we came up and camped in the new house on settlement night...much to the shock of the real estate agent who thought we were joking!
i mean, it does need some work, and the plumbing is dodgy but works, the bathroom has all the pipes exposed and the toilet is akin to sitting in an old shed.... any way, we stay and a friend loaded up the truck saturday night and delivered our furniture sunday morning, it was not a rest saturday though as the place resembled a rubbish tip.

Why why why do JWs befriend these monsters? It is wrong and a slap in the face for the victims families when they say he shows real remorse.
Elders think they are God and can read minds. Let him die in prison, he gets to eat doesn't he?

If you like EGGPLANT, what is your favorite recipe?
by Nathan Natas ini could think of no more pressing question to raise at this time.. remember: the fate of millions may rest in your hands!.

Second favourite, salt two sliced aubergines, leave to sweat. After 30 mins rinse them and pat dry on paper towel. Brown a chicken in oil, remove and brown the aubergines in oil, add large jar of sliced red peppers and the chicken, sprinkle in two teaspoons of sweet paprika, season with salt. Cover the pan and cook on low for one and half hours on top of stove. Serve with rice. Getting hungry here.

I love Aubergine.............as we call it here. Easy dish here............. poke a pin or squewer through a couple of aubergines, place them on a barbaque or under a grill; let the skin go black and the centre should be soft. Cool off the rub off the skin and put the flesh into a blender with juice of one lemon, lots of olive oil, salt and four large garlic cloves. Blend and adjust seasoning, serve with pita bread or toast and chopped corriander or parsley...........yum yum

Anyone Else Ever Experience This?
by thraxer68 inso as you da'd, were df'd, faded, or just mentally let go of everything you believed for so long, did you experience this weird transition phase of an "identitylessness"?
i think this might only apply to people who were "strong" in the faith.
as a strong witness, im sure those of us who were really took to heart and mind the things that we learned and counsel that the society produced.

I too felt the emptiness at first, I tried to fill it with reading the bible on my own. I did this for some months and then deceided to give it all a rest.
I got involved with a voluntary group and that helped me to see how ordinary people get on with helping others without having to be prompted by religion, or duty. It was a great help for me, I see people and the choices they make much differently now. The bad mistakes are often a result of bad chances early on in life, people are generally very good.
I think that if you surround yourself with positive people, get involved in community projects etc, you will find that your own inner compass will start to swing in the direction you should go. I am not naive, there are some rotten apples, but don't let that throw you off course. They are there, but so what? No one says life is easy, but there again it is not all doom and gloom as we were taught to believe.
When you face a decision that your Jw mind set would baulk at, then ask yourself why you have that reaction, is it reasonable, informed?
I have found that my boundaries have become much bigger and more open to things I would previously have closed my mind to, it is very enriching, slightly scary but quite an experience. For example I attended a christening for a baby of a lesbian couple last year, it was a lovely experience, and I do not call my self religious anymore. Still the opening of my mind and heart is almost like a spiritual experience in itself.
Hope you find your way, my motto is, "Be true to yourself"
Kind regards
